- Staff Applications -

Staff applications remain an important thing for us, but the positions that still need to be filled are considerably fewer than when Anime Dream first launched. At the top of the list is news, potential editors being required to stay closely in touch with the goings on of the anime industry, both domestic and abroad, reporting on them in a timely and frequent manner, have respectable writing ability and be comfortable with basic HTML editing. Media related positions (pictures, movies, etc) are also open, pictures being the focus. Written work plays a much less important role for media editors, while access to source media, familiarity with standard image editing programs and basic HTML knowledge is vital. Other positions may be considered on a case by case basis, but these are the things we're really looking for.

Regardless of position, a love for anime is a must, as is a willingness to put that enthusiasm and enjoyment of it to good use in making AD a better site with your contributions. Contributions are also the best way to get your foot in the door, a prerequisite of having your staff application even considered being a history of reader submissions, be they reviews, media or anything else. Should you choose to apply to join AD before having contributed some material as a reader, several piece of sample work will be required to accompany your application / resume. Be sure to specify which position you're applying for, as well as an outline of how you feel you could best help the site and what your qualifications are.

Please submit all applications via our online form here.

- Reviews -

To make things easier on me, I'd prefer it if all reviews were submitted in simple txt or doc format, but I'll see what I can do with any other format you send my way. No promises though. As for what info needs to be included in each submission, take a peek at any of our existing reviews and I'm sure you'll get the general idea.

Mandatory information includes the following: the name and email address you'd like posted with your review, be it your real name or your online handle; the title of the series or movie reviewed; letter scores in each of our grading categories; the review itself, which doesn't need to follow any strict guidelines, but should at least mention each of the grading categories, giving some justification for your scores; and finally, a percentage score for the main reviews page, which should reflect the overall score given in your review. Legion's grading scale, including a mystical (mystefying?:P) percentage system, is as follows:

A+ = 100-95% Scores in this range should be reserved for only the best titles in a given genre.
A = 95-85% This range of scores covers everything from excellent to mediocre.
B = 85-75%
C = 75-65%
D = 65-55%
E = 55-45% This borderline range of scores is meant for series that are very poorly done in most respects, but contain a least a few redeeming qualities that might be appealing to fans of a given genre or style.
F = 45-0% This is really the bottom of the barrel here folks. These scores are meant for shows that you'd try to force on someone if you wanted to torture them, having very few, if any, redeeming qualities and likely to cause seizures if watched for prolonged periods of time.

It may seem a little weird, but it's better than everyone following their own scoring system, so please use it... and yes, I'm fully aware that the scores overlap =P

Additionally, if you haven't seen the series in its entirety, you should mention which episodes the review is based on. As for the optional info, this includes the Distributor, Creator and Release (original Japanese release date) fields. I understand that it can sometimes be hard to find this stuff, especially the creator and release info, so if it's left blank, I'll do my best to hunt it down for you. You're also welcome to submit your own pics and captions to accompany the review should you rather your own choices be used instead of my own.

- News -

Submitted news must be recent, confirmable stories (no rumors please), and be well written (hooked on phonics worked for me! It can for you too!). All submissions must also include a source. Please limit news submissions to anime and anime related topics.

- Music -

Music submissions will be gladly accepted, as long as they are in RealAudio and we don't have the music already. RealAudio files must be encoded at a 20.7 kbps bit rate (single-rate mono music, with the target audience set to 28K modem), and in the case of soundtrack submissions, a scan of the cover must be made in JPEG format (preferably in high quality), a review must be written, some information about the CD must be provided, and 3 tracks must be submitted for full length soundtracks, while 1 or 2 will suffice for singles. For those that cannot fulfill these requirements, email me to determine the best way to work out the situation.
