Help Wanted: Reviewer(s)

Anime Dream is now out of its infancy and starting to grow in both quality and volume. It took several dedicated staff members and a lot of hard work to develop the site to its current state, and now we are preparing for the next plateau. Our goal is nothing short of offering the best (if not the most) commentary on anime that the Internet can offer. For this undertaking we must increase our number of volunteer staff writers, and the first area we will add new staff to is reviews.

We receive several screener contributions from industry leaders, and our new staff reviewers will assist us in reviewing those materials in a timely manner. We seek motivated individuals with an interest in furthering anime awareness on the web. To that end, please be mindful of the following before submitting an application to us.

  1. First of all, and I must stress this point, all Anime Dream staff members are volunteers. There shall be no monetary gain in doing work for us.
  2. Anime Dream is not a School of Journalism. I don't have time to teach you how to write, how to revise, or how to report. We are a publication, and our work is serious. Please do not apply unless you have command of the basics of the English language, and are capable of adapting your work to meet our always-increasing standards of quality. Your opinion is not as important to our readership as your ability to get it across.
  3. Work for Anime Dream is time-consuming. We don't schedule our postings thanks to the flexibility of the web, but we do require that reviews of donated screeners be done in a timely manner (The average deadline is two weeks from date of receipt). Please consider whether you would have time to support AD in light of your other obligations before applying.
  4. We are civilized people here. If your idea of a "strong opinion" is to insult ADR directors, actors, or other such production staff by name, then you will not enjoy dealing with me or the other editors (not to mention your work not getting posted). We'll poke fun at the work itself, but not the hard-working individuals that make anime their living. It's called courtesy, a quality that even writers can have!
  5. Please don't apply if you're under eighteen years of age, unless you're certain your work will wow us.
  6. We generally encourage folks from any location in the globe to apply, but seeing as international shipping is expensive, I'll probably choose from applicants living in the United States or her territories in this round.

If the above doesn't scare you off - and hopefully it does in cases where it should - then we invite you to apply. We've worked hard to make the application fun and painless, but of course we will want to see examples of your writing. Should we invite you to join the staff, you will submit your work directly to me until such time as I've seen enough work to promote you to the permanent staff and assign you a less demanding editor (i.e. I'll be overly demanding, and the other editors will be sufficiently demanding.) We will be adding staff one at a time, so please do not worry if we take a while to get back to you. Unless you're a spam or malware distributor. Then worry.
