Editor Review UpdateIt's been a while... well okay, an extremely long while since the last review update, but a frequency change is on the way. Didn't I say that last time!? Yes, but I mean it this time... really! You can expect smaller updates, having 2 or 3 reviews a piece, with a much shorter delay between each one. Anyway, with the excuses, explanations and promises out of the way, let's get on with the reviews, shall we? We've got 5 new reviews today, 3 of which are of recent acquisitions, so these should give you a good idea of what to expect from these new shows. Starting with a collection of reviews from ElfShadow, his first review is on the low fantasy, medieval series Berserk, recently acquired by Urban Vision. Like ElfShadow, I've only seen the first several episodes of the series, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of it upon its domestic release. To see what he thinks of this show, take a look at his review here. Next up is a review of Fushigi Yûgi OVA 1. This is an original work, not being based on Yuu Watase's manga as are both the TV series or the second OVA, having been recently picked up by Pioneer, who is just finishing up their release of the TV series. Take a look at how ElfShadow rates this first OVA series here. ElfShadow's final piece of the day comes in the way of a Gundam Wing review. Being one of the more recent shows in a long line of Gundam series, it is likely the most familiar of the bunch for many of you, due to its broadcast on the Cartoon Network. If you don't get the Cartoon Network, however, and you're debating whether to pick up the home video release from Bandai, take a look at ElfShadow's review here to get an idea of what the show is all about and how it rates. Our next review comes courtesy of Kakyouin, writing up his thoughts on Shamanic Princess. This 6 part OVA series was recently acquired by Central Part Media, with the first volume scheduled to ship in a few days on the 13th. Head on over to reviews section and check out Kakyouin's newest offering on this fun, action packed series here.
Finally, while this update was meant to be a series of editor reviews, seeing as the Fushigi Yûgi OVA was a follow up to the TV series, Lord Midas' review seems to fit in well. This reader review of the Fushigi Yûgi TV series can be seen here. Expect a heavier presence of reader reviews in the next update, but until then happy reading! |
