Announcements and T-Shirts and Figures, Oh My!I have Final Fantasy T-shirts. I have Sega T-shirts. What I don't have is anime shirts! Fanboy has decided that people need T-shirts, but not just any T-shirts, anime T-shirts!! The first shirt will be released sometime this month, featuring Kia Asamiya's popular series Steam Detectives. It will showcase a number of the main character from the series, including Narutaki, Ling Ling and Goriki. The second T-shirt will be released in July and will feature Dan Brereton's Nocturnals with the slogan: "Some things are better left in the dark!" Also on schedule for July is a T-shirt from Andi Watson's Geishi with Jomi in the Speedracer pose.

They keep getting crumpled up, you say? Whoa! Bandai to the rescue! At the 2000 Shizuoka Hobby Show, Bandai announced some of the figures they plan to release in the coming months. First up is the Swordfish II, Spike's fighter from Cowboy Bebop. Another model on tap for release in the next few months is a new master grade Gundam model of the Sazabi, retailing for about $80. Some of you Wing fans out there may be scratching your heads and saying, "Sazabi? I don't remember any Gundam Sazabi." Well, Sazabi is a Neo-Zion Gundam from the UC universe, the original universe in which Gundam takes place in. Wing takes place in an alternate universe, as do most newer Gundam series. If you're looking for more figures to take up space on your shelf, then you'll be happy to know that Kotobukiya has revealed a new series of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure figurines. They will most likely come to the US in single packages, going for about $24 each. The japanese release will have two figure sets, consisting of a fixed-pose character and an articulated figure of the character's psychic partner or "Stand," retailing for approximately 4800 yen per set. Moving away from the collectible scene, Media Blasters recently announced the release of a couple new titles: Shinesman, Special Duty Combat Unit DVD and Ruroni Kenshin Vol 3: Shadow Elite DVD. Shinesman, running about 60 minutes, centers around Hiroya Matsumoto, having just been hired by Raito, a top trading firm. Hiroya seeks to be a good employee, just as his father was, but unfortunately he doesn't have a clue about what he's really in for; he's been hired to work in the Special Duty Combat Unit: SHINESMAN. The third volume of Kenshin contains episodes 9-12, running approximately 100 minutes and continuing the trend of 4 episodes per disc. Kenshin must save Dr Megumi Takani from the evil Kanryuu, who orders his elite Oniwabanshuu to recover and keep hold of the doctor. Even if Kenshin defeats the Oniwabanshuu, he must then deal with their leader, Aoshi Shinomori. It doesn't look like you could go wrong with either of these discs, both set for release on September 26th. Thanks for sending in this great news Moridin, but it's time again to go back to your cell (a padded one at that =P ). At least there's a TV, VCR and plenty of anime in there. That's all a person needs, right? Links: |
