It's been known for some time that the Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight DVD set was coming in October, but we now have an exact date, being currently scheduled for October 17th. Well, while we still have a long time to wait, there is some good news. The DVD will include a number of extras, such as character sketches, profiles, and comics featuring you favorite elves, dwarves and heroes. That's not all, there is also a complete guide to Lodoss information booklet, a cast page, a full script, and extra artwork. All you otaku will be happy to know that the set has the original Japanese dialogue included, with both subbed and dubbed versions on the DVD.
While you're waiting for that new Lodoss War DVD set, you can salivate over the upcoming Slayers DVD collection set to be released on September 9th. Of course it comes with extras as well! The DVD box set will have sketches of that sexy Lina-chan and all of your favorite Slayers characters. Along with the sketches, there will also be an art gallery, character gallery, and scripts to each of the 26 episodes included on the DVD. Did you want to know more about the men and women behind the scenes? Well not only will Slayers have actor bios but an entire meet the cast section. In an act of lovely self-glorification, a number of reviews will be included on the DVD in addition to everything else. Slayers will also include the Japanese dialogue, with both subbed and dubbed versions.
Hmmm. You're still reading? Shouldn't you be at the store awaiting your Lodoss War and Slayers DVDs? Well, if you didn't have enough incentive to go wait at the store already, here's more. The Maze DVD is also scheduled to be released on September 19th. The Maze OVA runs at about 60 minutes, but the DVD is 85 minutes long. Why? Well because they're going to give you the first TV episode too. Can't beat that deal, can you?
Well, now that you have the good news, it's time for some bad. Pioneer has announced some changes for some upcoming titles, both their own and ones they publish for Bandai (aka delays):
- Outlaw Star DVD 1 delayed until 9/2.
- Cowboy Bebop DVD 3 delayed until 7/4.
- Blue Submarine No. 6 DVD 2 delayed until 7/4.
- Tenchi Universe Collection: Tenchi Muyo on Earth DVD 3 will street on 8/22.
- Sol Bianca - The Legacy Vol 2 will also street on 8/22.
Can't very well finish up on a bad note, can we? ADV has announced that their Gasaraki series will be released on August 22nd. They have also given some great news for all those Gundam fans; the Gundam 0080 DVD is going to be released in early 2001. Gundam 0080 takes place where the original Mobile Suit Gundam series left off and is a continuation of the UC universe. Keep an eye out for these upcoming releases.
Haven't gotten your fill of mechs yet? Maybe you're feeling nostalgic? Well Trimark has just the thing for you! Trimark has acquired the rights to all 124 episodes of that mech of mechs, Voltron. Along with the original series, they also have 12 episodes from the new season. The tapes are scheduled to be in stores before the end of the year.
One last little tidbit for those of you who live in Europe and speak French. Kia Asamiya's epic Dark Angel manga was released in a French language version. This issue contains 193 pages, covering the first volume of the Japanese version.
Now, go get in line! You wouldn't want to miss out on the great anime coming out in the next few months.
After all that, I somehow feel as though the words coming out of mouth aren't my own. You may be wondering what the hell I'm talking about, perhaps assuming I've just finally lost my last bit of sense (I still had some sense left!? No, that can't be right =P ).
