Announcements Bloom at SakuraCon

RPGuy (Editor) — April 24th, 2004 — 11:56 PM

SakuraCon is in full bloom, and title announcements are flying left and right. While we at Anime Dream were unable to attend, Anime On DVD managed to bring home the latest.

FUNimation has announced that they have obtained the license to Spiral, which will see its first DVD release in November. When asked about the episode count for the upcoming Kodocha DVDs, FUNimation responded that they do not know what the count will be just yet.

Geneon has announced that they will be releasing the Ex-Driver movie. Ex-Driver will be dubbed by Bang! Zoom! and will use the same cast that was used in Media Blasters' release of the OVA series. Along with Ex-Driver, Geneon announced that they will be releasing Requiem From the Darkness.

ADV has had possibly the largest showing so far with the announcement of Petit Purie Yucie and Parasite Dolls. ADV also explained that Evangelion Platinum will be the same as the Japanese Renewal release, but it is not called renewal due to the fact that they do not have the rights to all of the renewal material. ADV continued, stating that they will be releasing the reanimated version of Mezzo Forte TV. Moving to their ADV Toys line, ADV confirmed that merchandise based on Noir and Excel Saga will be available by the end of the summer or the beginning of fall. For those that have collected the full series on their own, ADV will be releasing the box for Excel Saga separately, as well as with the collection.

Outside of SakuraCon, TOKYOPOP has announced that they plan to broadcast original television commercials for their manga line on various channels. The known channels thus far are Cartoon Network, MTV, Spike TV, G4, and Tech TV. This is a landmark, as no comic company has ever produced and financed its own television commercials to date.
