The Flip-Floppin' Zodiac Boy Is Coming

Mike Ferreira (Editor) — June 13th, 2003 — 11:25 PM

According to Sony Music Entertainment, the internationally famous Astro Boy will be seeing the television screen once again. Sony Entertainment and Tezuka Productions plan to bring a third Astro Boy television series to the United States on the Kids WB! network. Twenty six episodes are slated to air in America starting early next year, with Japanese and European versions hopefully following soon after.

Dic has acquired the rights to the series Saint Seiya and will be releasing it in America under the title Knights of the Zodiac. Beginning in August, the series will begin a 40-episode run on Cartoon Network. Bandai has been awarded the license to make and sell toys based on the series, while the home video distribution will be handled by ADV films.

Viz joins the "unflipped revolution" that's sweeping manga starting with Animerica Extra issue 6.9. The magazine will have two covers, as most manga will be unflipped, but there will still be the odd title in its final months that will not be. The unflipped selections will be Revolutionary Girl Utena, Banana Fish, Short Program 2, and Fushigi Yuugi. To fit this new image, starting in October, all graphic novels released will also be unflipped.

In popular Media, Time Magazine has posted an article on The Animatrix, which is a series of anime-based films that aired in the months prior to The Matrix: Reloaded's theatrical release. The short films have since found release on DVD.
