RaXephon's Oscar has Gutsoon!

Mike Ferreira (Editor) — March 21st, 2003 — 8:51 PM

On a sad note to Studio Ghibli fans, Hayao Miyazaki has confirmed that he will not be attending the Oscars this year. Miyazaki, who was expected to attend for his film Spirited Away, will be unable to attend due to the fact that he is working on his latest piece, Howl's Moving Castle. In place of Miyazaki, Toshio Suzuki, as well as a few representatives from sponsors will be attending as substitutes.

Gutsoon! Entertainment has announced that it will release its first series of graphic novels in June of 2003. The planned titles so far will be Bomber Girl, Grappler Baki, Guardian Angel, First President of Japan, Slam Dunk, City Hunter, Fist of the Blue Sky, and Fist of the North Star. The novels will all carry a $9.95 price tag when they hit stores this June.

On the convention front, the representatives for Anime Boston 2003 have announced that they will be adding Hiroki Kanno, who is renowned for his character design work for RaXephon and Yu Yu Hakusho, as well as his animation work on Fushigi Yuugi and production director for Vision of Escaflowne. Kanno's appearance, his first North American convention attendance, will be sponsored by ADV Films and consist of attending various Q & A Panels over the weekend, as well as autograph signings.
