Sony Launches PSN Video Store

Sony has officially launched the PlayStation online video store as part of its Playstation Network service. Through the PlayStation network store, customers may "rent" features for a 24-hour viewing period. Among other titles, the service debuted with several anime works. FUNimation's current anime lineup on the PlayStation network consists of the following:

  • Afro Samurai, season 1
  • Basilisk season 1
  • Burst Angel season 1
  • Desert Punk
  • Gunslinger Girl
  • Kiddy Grade
  • Moon Phase
  • Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles
  • Samurai 7, season 1
  • Trinity Blood season 1

In addition, the first two seasons of Sony Entertainment's Astro Boy are available on the service. Studio BONES and Sony Computer Entertainment working together to offer Xam'd: Lost Memories, a PlayStation Network exclusive as of press time.

Title rentals for the FUNimation titles begin at $1.99 for standard definition broadcast. Xam'd is available in standard definition at $2.99 per standard-definition episode, and $3.99 per high-definition episode. Robotech: Shadow Chronicles is available in standard-definition format, and will cost $7.99.
