FUNimation Nabs Titles Involved In ADV-Sojitz Partnership

FUNimation announced that they acquired the rights to every title that ADV and Sojitz previously held jointly. In the acquisition, FUNimation snagged various broadcast, digital, distribution, and merchandising rights to 32 titles. The titles obtained in the agreement are as follows:

  • Blade of the Phantom Master
  • Comic Party Revolution
  • Coyote Ragtime Show
  • Devil May Cry
  • Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor
  • Jing, King of Bandits: Seventh Heaven
  • Jinki:Extend
  • Kanon
  • Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora
  • Le Chevalier D'Eon
  • Magikano
  • Moeyo Ken TV
  • Moonlight Mile
  • Murder Princess
  • Nerima Daikon Brothers
  • Pani Poni Dash!
  • Project Blue Earth SOS
  • Pumpkin Scissors
  • Red Garden
  • Sgt. Keroro 1st & 2nd
  • Tokyo Majin
  • UFO Princess Valkyrie
  • Utawarerumono
  • Venus Versus Virus
  • The Wallflower
  • Welcome to the NHK
  • Xenosaga

Previously, these titles were held by ADV Films, and obtained by Sojitz's funds through a mutual partnership between the two companies. When the partnership dissolved, Sojitz withdrew financial support, management, and a the preceding 32 licenses. In the past two days, FUNimation has snatched up the rights to 52 titles.

Sgt. Keroro and Murder Princess were never released on American DVD, despite ADV's ownership of the licenses.
