Kodansha Opens US Branch

Japanese publisher Kodansha launched an American subsidiary on July 1. The child company will publish translations of Kodansha's Japanese manga titles, in an effort to maximize profits for Kodansha Japan. Currently, Kodansha's American branch is scheduled to begin operations in September.
Del Rey, a prominent publisher of Kodansha manga, stated that Kodansha will still license titles to independent distributors, despite the establishment of an American subsidiary.
