UshiCon: New Austin Con
The folks in charge of UshiCon, a new Austin anime convention, have recently begun accepting reservations for the Con's 2002 debut. Interested otaku can register for a mere $20 before May 31, 2001, after which time the price will increase in $5 increments over some arbitrary time intervals listed on the Con's stylin' web page. Additionally, Con-goers can get a special $85 / night rate for 1-4 otaku from the Sheraton if they mention UshiCon in making reservations. Conveniently enough, this appears to be the same hotel at which the Con is being hosted (Four Points Sheraton, IH-35 N, Austin).
A formal event and guest list has not appeared on the site yet, but the flyer mentions the following "features":

- 24 Hour Video Room
- Artists' Alley
- Music Video Showcase
- Comiket Style Cosplay
- Saturday Night Dance
- Anime Karaoke
- Con Suite
Looks like plenty to keep Con-goers occupied and penniless ^_~ The Con is scheduled for February 1-3, 2002, so there's plenty of time for them to delay announcing specifics... cosplay and dancing... now all they need is an appearance of the Con's kawaii mascot o_O
