Geneon's Down, But Not Out Yet

Mike Ferreira (Editor) — October 7th, 2007 — 4:30 AM

As of September 28, Geneon USA has ceased all DVD production, sales, and distribution of DVDs and CDs in the US market. All titles scheduled for release after November 6, 2007 have been canceled due to Geneon's lack of means to manufacture and distribute product.

The announcement came on the heels of news that negotiations over a distribution agreement between ADV Films and Geneon had dissolved. According to Dentsu, Geneon USA's parent company, stated that Geneon will focus on managing its works portfolio.

On October 5, a letter was sent to members of Geneon Spot stating that the company is discussing options regarding distribution of the company's titles. Currently, no concrete plans have been made, though Geneon the company plans to release more information once a definite decision is made.
